The Human Cost

At Dead Cyber Society, we believe the human cost of cybercrime and online abuse has been underestimated for far too long.
When someone is being stalked, blackmailed, exploited, scammed, threatened, impersonated, harassed or publicly humiliated, they are often told to block the account. Delete the app. Turn off the phone. Stop responding.
Sometimes, those steps help.
Sometimes, they do not even begin to touch the problem.
You should not have to disappear from the internet just to make somebody else stop hurting you.
Why DCS Exists
People should not have to navigate this alone.
The internet changed faster than the systems built to protect people from harm.
The gap victims fall into
Victims are too often passed from one place to another. A platform says to contact the police. The police may say it is a platform issue. A school may call it drama. An employer may call it personal.
Friends may say, “Just ignore it.” Family may not understand the technology.
What happens next
Evidence disappears. Accounts are deleted. Usernames change. Stories become harder to explain. The victim becomes exhausted from having to prove, again and again, that what is happening is real.
DCS exists to help close that gap.
